Cordata
Envisioning more jobs and tax dollars for Whatcom County, Trillium planned Cordata in the mid-1980s as the area's first multi-use business park.
Envisioning more jobs and tax dollars for Whatcom County, Trillium planned Cordata in the mid-1980s as the area's first multi-use business park.
The success of Cordata rests on an excellent long-range plan that can be adapted to changing land-use goals as the needs of the community change.
The only mixed-use Planned Unit Development (PUD) in Whatcom County at the time, and only one of two in Bellingham today, Cordata demonstrates that, when planned well, light industrial, commercial, institutional and residential uses can be physically separated while functioning cohesively as a campus.
Cordata is home to high-density residential areas, including 55+ and assisted-living communities, the area's largest non-hospital medical facility and busy retail outlets, as well as light manufacturing facilities and a thriving community college.
Trillium supplied 65 acres for the college's attractive campus through a series of gifts, trades and discounted sales. An additional 100 of Cordata's 600 acres are dedicated to a mix of open space, landscape areas and scenic trails.
