Settlers Bay

As vast and varied as the land itself, Trillium's Alaska real estate adventures began in 1980.

As with all Trillium's dealings in Alaska, Trillium approached Settler's Bay with a high regard for the native people, the environment and future residents.

Some 60 parcels scattered throughout Southeast Alsaka, Bristol Bay, the Alaska Pennisula and Kodiak Island were part of a package deal that came with Trillium's purchase of land (now Resort Semiahmoo.) from the Alaska Packers Association. These holdings were expanded after a large acquisition of timberlands from Georgia Pacific in the mid-1980s.

Trillium's Alaska property dealings have been characterized by complexity, creativity and quality.

In the case of Settlers Bay, a 2,000-acre residential golf community in Wasilla, near Anchorage, Trillium took on a problem property that included 900 residential lots, a nine-hole golf course, airstrip and lodge and turned it around. Adding value to the community included expanding the golf course to 18 holes and establishing the resort's infrastructure.

Although many of the properties have since been sold, including Settlers Bay, Trillium retains ownership of several hundred acres of Alaska land.
